A monastery in the Diocese of Tetovo and Gostivar of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric was recently vandalized for the second time in less than 10 days.

The diocese reported on Saturday, March 30, that it reported a break-in and vandalism at the St. Athanasius Monastery that morning. All the windows of the church were broken and significant material damage was caused.

The attack comes less than 10 days after a previous break-in at the monastery and desecration of the church “with decorations from the flag of another country.”

The diocese concludes: “This is the time of the Great Fast when Christians are preparing for Christ’s Resurrection, and our fellow Muslims are in Ramadan fasting, so we believe that this should be a time for re-examination, maturation, and the awakening of humanity.”
