Korean-language Orthodox prayer book published

Seoul, June 26, 2024

A new Korean-language prayer book was recently published by the Diocese of Korea of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In the fall of 2022, a publishing house was established with the Korean Diocese that has been headed since 2019 by the ethnic Korean Archbishop Theophan (Kim).

The new publication includes morning and evening prayers, Vespers, Small Compline, prayers before and after Communion, prayers for various occasions, the Canon to the Theotokos, and the Akathist to St. Nektarios of Aegina.

Work on the translation lasted about six months. The prayer book was published in a small 100-copy print run and is now available at church shops throughout the Diocese of Korea.

A Korean-language prayer book was previously published by the Patriarchate of Constantinople’s Metropolis of Korea in 2017, though it is currently out of print.
