After 30 years, the Macedonian Orthodox community in Berlin is finally getting its own church.

Yesterday, Sunday, September 15, the foundation stone for the future Church of St. Clement of Ohrid was laid and blessed by the primate of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric and other hierarchs of the MOC-OA, the European Diocese reports.

His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan of Ohrid and Macedonia was concelebrated in the Divine Liturgy and consecration by the local hierarch, His Eminence Metropolitan Pimen of Europe, His Eminence Metropolitan Joseph of Tetovo and Gostivar, and clergy from Macedonia and throughout Europe.

The MOC-OA currently has 14 parish communities throughout Germany.

The day’s program was enriched with a concert, including a performance by a Macedonian folk ensemble.

In March of this year, a Bulgarian Orthodox church was consecrated in Stuttgart, Germany.
