The Romanian Orthodox monastery in Allegan, Michigan, has undergone extensive renovation work throughout the year.

The work at the Holy Protection Monastery was funded by the Department for Romanians Abroad, reports the Basilica News Agency.

At the beginning of the year, the roof was repaired and work was done on the walls of the building, and during the period of April–September, the monastery underwent comprehensive renovations, including upgrades to its interior plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as the installation of new doors and windows throughout the building, including specialized windows for the tower.

In addition to the daily cycle of services and monastic obediences, the Holy Protection Monastery is known to host youth camps.

The monastery’s church was consecrated last October. The holy habitation was initially established in Ellenville, New York, in 2001, but in 2018, it relocated to Michigan.
