On Sunday, November 17, celebrations were held in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox representation Church in Belgrade, which was initially built for refugees following the Russian revolution.
The service was led by His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia, concelebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, head of the Russian Church’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), and His Grace Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, head of the Serbian Church’s representation in Moscow, reports the DECR.
The hierarchs were joined by Serbian and Russian clergy.

Following the Liturgy, Pat. Porfirije and Met. Anthony consecrated the interior frescoes that were painted for the church’s centennial anniversary.
Met. Anthony thanked Pat. Porfirije for his care for the Russian church in Belgrade, emphasizing that “this continues the love and hospitality with which the Serbian people received Russian exiles 100 years ago, who had instantly lost their homeland, found themselves far from family and loved ones, without means of subsistence, but preserved their most precious possession—the holy Orthodox faith.”
The Metropolitan also gave the Patriarch an episcopal Panagia and an altar cross to the parish.
Later that day, a reception was held in the parish house hall of the St. Sava Church in Vračar.
