The concert, featuring the Synodal Choir, is also dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the episcopal ministry of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, the First Hierarch of ROCOR, reports synod.com.

The Synodal headquarters are in need of urgent and expensive repairs. Tickets to the concert ($50) can be purchased from eventbrite.com.

The choir will sing “rarely heard works of the greatest composers of Eastern sacred repertory.”

A catered reception will be held in the cathedral hall following the concert.

ROCOR announced the need for repairs in August. The building, which ROCOR has owned since 1957, has fallen into extreme disrepair and is in need of major repairs.

“In order to carry out this important work and preserve this House of the Mother of God, the spiritual and administrative center of the Russian Church Abroad, we must raise $15 million,” Met. Nicholas said in his appeal.

The capital improvement program encompasses, among other things:

  • Re-pointing the entire brick façade

  • Replacing all windows with thermal-rated windows that have already been approved by the Landmarks Commission

  • Replacing three elevators that will be compliant with new city codes

  • Replacing all the plumbing

  • Upgrading the electrical wiring throughout the building

  • Repairing the crumbling balustrade along the upper floor

General donations for the renovations can be offered via PayPal here.
