A joyous event occurred in the life of the Orthodox Church in Thailand on Christmas Eve, as several people were received into the Church by Holy Baptism.
On January 6, eight people received the washing of regeneration at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bangkok. The Sacrament was celebrated by Hieromonk Paisiy (Ipate), dean of the Cathedral, reports the Moscow Patriarchate’s Diocese of Thailand.
The newly baptized had been catechized for six months under the guidance of Hieromonk Micah (Phiaxayavong), a cleric of the cathedral.
The Diocese of Thailand exercises jurisdiction over four countries in Southeast Asia: Thailand (9 parishes and 1 monastery), Cambodia (3 parishes), Laos (1 parish), and Myanmar (1 parish). The Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the 25th anniversary of its work in Thailand in November.
In 2022, Hieromonk Paisiy (Ipate) offered OrthoChristian an interview on Orthodoxy in Cambodia.
