Another mass Baptism was celebrated in Malawi on April 30, bringing in dozens of people from the Mang’anja tribe.

The Sacrament was celebrated by Fr. Joachim Bakali, dean of the Malawi parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church’s African Exarchate. Altogether, 35 Mang’anjas received holy illumination at the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the Chirdzulu District in the Southern Region, the Exarchate reports.

The catechumens had undergone about 6 months of catechism in preparation for their Baptisms.

This service came less than two weeks after Fr. Joachim baptized 40 members of the Chewa people on Holy Saturday.

Last April, about 1,000 Malawians were baptized in one week. At the same time, the Catechism of St. Nicholai (Velimirović) was published in the Chewa language, translated by Deacon Savva Kajava, and distributed amongst parishioners in Malawi.
