Fr. Kirill Zawatski, who currently serves as acting rector of the Orthodox Church in America’s Holy Ascension Church in Frackville, PA, and administrator of St. Mary’s Church in St. Clair, PA, served as chaplain for the day at the Pennsylvania State Senate on Monday, May 12, delivered the opening prayer for the legislative session.

Fr. Krill writes:

Yesterday, I was deeply honored to serve as chaplain for the day at the Pennsylvania State Senate. At the warm invitation of my friend, Senator David Argall, I had the opportunity to offer the opening prayer as the legislative session began. It was a humbling privilege to lift them up in prayer and ask the Lord to bless their work and lead them in the pursuit of what is good, true, and righteous for the people of this Commonwealth. Thank you, Senator, for your invitation and may God continue to bless the work you do for our State!...

I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent the Church in this small way and to bear witness to the presence of God in the public square. May He continue to guide our leaders and bless our beautiful Pennsylvania.

While at the Capitol, Fr. Kirill and his wife Pani Olivia met with Representatives Tim Twardzik and Dane Watro, who provided the couple with a tour of the House of Representatives.

In October, Fr. John Charest, rector of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Carnegie, PA, offered the opening prayer for a Trump rally.
