The Georgian Orthodox Diocese of North America was blessed with a visit from the bishop of the ancient Georgian Diocese of Nikozi and Tskhinvali last month.

According to reports from the diocesan Facebook page, His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah concelebrated with His Grace Bishop Saba of North America at two Pennsylvania churches in mid-May.

On May 17, the hierarchs served at St. David the Builder Cathedral in Wilkes-Barre, joined by diocesan clergy.

After the service, an event was held dedicated to Family Sanctity Day and National Traditional Dress Day, with performances by dancing and singing ensembles from the local Georgian cultural center.

Then, the film The Front and the Neighbors, directed by Met. Isaiah, was shown. It tells the story of those who remained in the village of Nikozi during the 2008 Russo-Georgian War. Fighting was especially tense in His Eminence’s diocese (part of which is in South Ossetia today), but he never abandoned his people.

The next day, the hierarchs and diocesan clergy served at St. George’s Church in the Philadelphia suburb of Feasterville, PA.
