The Georgian Diocese of North America celebrated its 15th anniversary over the weekend.

On Saturday, October 12, His Grace Bishop Saba of North America and diocesan clergy celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. King David the Builder in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in honor of the anniversary, the diocese reports.

After the Liturgy, the bishop addressed the congregation with a sermon, during which he announced to the parishioners that a great holy relic, a piece of the Holy Cross, had arrived from the ancient Georgian capital of Mtskheta to the American continent, which is a great blessing and grace from the holy seat of the Georgian Church.

After the service, festive events were held for the anniversary and the feast of Svetitskhovloba honoring the ancient Svetitskhoveli Cathedral in Mtskheta.

Several Georgian folk dance troupes and folk and Orthodox choirs performed, and traditional Georgian dishes were offered.
