Thanks to the love and efforts of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Caransebeș, three seriously ill children are able to receive urgent medical treatment abroad.

The ruling hierarch of the diocese His Grace Bishop Lucian was able to offer, through the sacrifice of the faithful and clergy, €33,000 ($38,025) each to two children who urgently needed surgery in the U.S., and another €60,000 ($69,135) for 12-year-old Ariadna, diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer, requiring expensive treatment in Spain, reports the Basilica News Agency.

The outlet emphasizes that the Church community in Caraș-Severin County mobilized in support of Adriana, who first learned she was sick in 2023. Shde has already undergone surgery in Hungary, followed by a stem cell transplant, but complete treatment now requires a costly intervention at a specialized hospital in Barcelona, estimated at €975,000 ($1.124 million).

With the blessing of Bp. Lucian, the parishes of his diocese organized donations for Ariadna on Sundays and feast days.

On Wednesday, Ariadna was received at the diocesan center in Caransebeș, where the bishop offered prayers for her health and gave her the €60,000 raised by the faithful.

“This action demonstrates the vocation of mutual aid of the Caransebeș Diocese, which, alongside its spiritual mission, concretely supports people in suffering,” commented Archimandrite Casian Rușeț, diocesan cultural advisor.
