After many years of labor and prayers, the Georgian Orthodox parish community of St. Vakhtang Gorgasali has acquired its own church building.

“This is not merely a stone building. This is a new home of faith and unity, the fruit of the Georgian congregation’s obedience, love and faithfulness to the faith. Today our Holy Mother Church has gained another sanctuary abroad, where from this day forward Divine Liturgy and prayers will be continuously offered and raised in the Georgian language!” the Georgian Diocese in North America writes.

“This church is not merely an architectural phenomenon. This church is a living testimony that the Georgian Church is alive even in distant emigration and that the Georgian people everywhere seek Christ, everywhere build spiritual sanctuaries and everywhere experience unity around God. May the Lord grant that this church be a gracious sanctuary where the spirit of the homeland, God’s power and Georgian unity are felt.”

The church is located in a Chicago suburb at:

240 Olde Half Day Rd.,
Lincolnshire, IL 60069

The first Divine Liturgy in the newly acquired building will be celebrated by His Grace Bishop Saba on July 12, the feast of Sts. Peter and Paul at 10:00 AM.
