St. Panteleimon’s in Cambodia celebrates patronal feast

Sihanoukville, Cambodia, August 11, 2025

Orthodox Christians in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, had a particularly exciting day on August 9.

About 20 young Khmer (Cambodian) converts, catechumens, and inquirers attended the Liturgy held in commemoration of the local church’s patron, St. Panteleimon. Fr. Roman Postnikov celebrated the Liturgy.

Since the War in Ukraine, the Russian and Ukrainian community in Sihanoukville has mostly evaporated. Furthermore, the Cambodian mission presently only has one full-time priest and no resident missionaries, so the primary focus of the evangelistic work has temporarily shifted to the nation’s capital, Phnom Pehn.

For this reason, the strong showing of Khmer to this Liturgy was welcome and it is hoped that it reflects the beginnings of exponential growth in conversions to Orthodox Christianity in Cambodia—the world's most Buddhist nation.

Prayers and donations to the mission are appreciated!
