On the eve of the meeting in Alaska between the Presidents of Russia and the United States, Archbishop of Sitka and Alaska Alexei (Trader) called upon Orthodox Christians to undertake a special three-day fast and prayer for the sake of peace.
Shortly before this, Archbishop Alexei gave an interview, which we present to the readers of our website. In the conversation with the archbishop, topics were raised concerning the history of the establishment of Orthodoxy and the contemporary life of the parishes of the Orthodox Church in America in Alaska, the labors of Russian saints—St. Herman of Alaska, St. Innocent (Veniaminov)—as well as the preparation for the canonization of the Righteous Matushka Olga, the first Orthodox female saint of North America.
