Seeker of the Lost Orthodox Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase a historic church property in the Park Hill neighborhood.

The parish, under the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America, is seeking to acquire a permanent location after outgrowing its current space of nearly six years, according to the fundraising appeal by rector Fr. David Carder.

The property under consideration is a traditionally built, east-facing former Lutheran church located minutes from the parish’s current location. The property includes a church building, a chapel/administrative building, and a large parish hall.

The campaign is taking a two-phase approach. The initial phase aims to raise $375,000 to acquire the building, with subsequent fundraising to cover the remaining balance. The parish has currently raised approximately $2,575 in pledges toward the phase one goal.

Once acquired, the building will require conversion work to accommodate Orthodox worship, including the installation of an iconostasis, sanctuary modifications, and other adaptations to reflect Orthodox liturgical requirements.

The parish serves a diverse congregation composed of converts from Protestant, Roman Catholic, and non-Christian backgrounds, as well as Orthodox faithful from traditionally Orthodox countries including Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova. Services are conducted in English.

According to the campaign materials, Seeker of the Lost is currently the only Orthodox church in North Little Rock, which has a population of approximately 65,000. The parish also serves surrounding communities including Sherwood, Cabot, Jacksonville, Conway, and Searcy, with a collective population of roughly 200,000.

Donations and pledges can be made via the parish’s Tithe.ly fundraising campaign.
