Kiboga, Uganda, December 2, 2025
Nearly three dozen people were recently baptized in Uganda.
On Sunday, November 30, thirty-two local residents were baptized at the St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco Mission Center in Kiboga, Uganda.
The Sacrament was celebrated by hieromonk Silouan (Brown), dean of the Eastern Church district of Uganda of the Russian Orthodox Church’s African Exarchate and rector of the parish, along with Fr. Christopher Kizito, a cleric of the parish, and Fr. Paul Baleijusa, rector of the Transfiguration parish in the village of Nakabale, the Exarchate reports.
Following the Baptisms, the priests celebrated the Divine Liturgy, during which the newly baptized received Holy Communion for the first time.
The catechumens prepared carefully for the Sacrament over eight months, regularly attending catechetical instruction. During the final week, daily training seminars were held lasting approximately seven hours.
OrthoChristian previously reported on a spiritual awakening in Uganda in September, when 55 people were baptized, with many more expected in the coming months.
