Christmas Greeting of Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea

Dear brothers and sisters,

Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the Nativity of Christ—the radiant feast that forever transformed the very order of the world’s being and revealed to humanity its true calling.

On the night of Bethlehem, time and eternity, the earthly and the heavenly, converged, revealing to the world a Bridge cast across the abyss of the Fall.

Truth came not as an abstract idea, but as a Person—our Lord Jesus Christ, who became our Savior. He shared in our weakness so that we might share in His divinity.

Through the darkness of history, through the personal trials of each one of us, the Star of Bethlehem shines, bearing witness that the Almighty and Infinite God is not far from humankind, but has come to us as to His own children, to take upon Himself our fragile flesh.

The birth of the Divine Child proclaims a new era, in which suffering acquires redemptive meaning, and mortality becomes the threshold of immortality.

May the light of the Savior’s Nativity pierce the darkness of every doubt and every trial! May the Christ who is born establish in us “life in abundance,” guiding us along the path to eternal salvation!

+Tikhon
Metropolitan of Simferopol and All Crimea
