Orthodox Christians for Life will join hundreds of thousands at pro-life marches around the country this month, including the March for Life on January 23 in Washington, DC, and the Walk for Life West Coast on January 24 in San Francisco, CA.

Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America will lead a prayer service at the National Mall before the March for Life commences, and Bishop Irenej of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America will give the invocation from the March for Life rally stage.

In San Francisco, newly-elected Bishop Vasily of the OCA Diocese of San Francisco and the West will for the first time lead the prayer service for the Orthodox gathering at Civic Center Plaza, in addition to giving the invocation onstage at the Walk for Life rally.

Prior to each event, the Orthodox groups will gather for Divine Liturgy and breakfast, at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Washington, DC, and Holy Trinity Cathedral in San Francisco, respectively.

Affiliated Orthodox Christians for Life groups will also pray and march in San Diego, Indianapolis, Austin, Tucson, Boise, and Topeka during January, as well as additional cities throughout the year. More information can be found at oclife.org/marchwithus.

“Marching for life offers an opportunity for the renewal of our resolve to end abortion and create a culture of life, but it is not an end in itself,” said Emily Yocum, Executive Director.

“The Orthodox Church’s historic witness to the sanctity of human life continues throughout the year with numerous faithful who are committed to praying for the end of abortion, providing education about this issue, and serving pregnant women in need.”

Over 60 parishes have formed affiliated Orthodox Christians for Life groups to date. Those interested in receiving resources and assistance at no cost can visit oclife.org/parishministryprogram.
