A new mission parish opened last weekend in the town of Warrington in northwest England.

The first Divine Liturgy for St. Oswald’s was served on Saturday, February 7, in the ancient church of St. Elphin, Warrington (Anglican). 49 people attended, “which is an excellent beginning for this new mission,” writes the Orthodox Church of St. Aidan of Lindisfarne in Levenshulme.

The mission is part of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland.

The next service will take place when His Eminence Metropolitan Silouan visits to serve a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Saturday, March 7, at the same venue.

A member of the mission will be ordained to the subdiaconate at that time.

OrthoChristian previously reported about a pastor and dozens of congregants from an Evangelical church in Halifax who converted to Orthodoxy and started a new mission.
