More than 40 people were baptized at a parish of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Exarchate of Africa in Nigeria last week.

On Thursday, March 26, Fr. Daniel Agbaza, dean of parishes in Nigeria, celebrated the Sacrament of Baptism for 42 children and adults at the parish of Holy Great Martyr George the Victory-Bearer in the village of Ugbaikyo, Benue State, Nigeria, the Exarchate reports.

The newly illumined had undergone approximately six months of catechetical instruction under the guidance of Fr. Daniel and catechist Augustin Orapine.

The day before, Fr. Daniel visited the parish of St. Seraphim of Sarov in the village of Mbaakir, also in Benue State, where he led a conversation on the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith for a group of catechumens, the majority of whom are Protestants.
