More than a dozen people were recently received into the Orthodox faith through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism at the Annunciation of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church in Perth, Western Australia.

Twelve catechumens were baptized on Saturday, May 9, while two additional young adults were baptized and married two weeks earlier, bringing the total number to 14, reports the Vema of the Church.

Two more group Baptisms have already been scheduled for later this year. There are currently 48 active catechumens at Annunciation Church.

The weekly Saturday morning Divine Liturgy, which is conducted in English, has proven particularly fruitful in attracting people to the Orthodox faith.

Those received into the Church undergo catechesis for a period of up to two years through regular private meetings with the parish priest, Protopresbyter Emmanuel Stamatiou, along with continuous weekly spiritual teaching and guidance.

The newly baptized received the Orthodox names: Seraphim, Veronica, Isaiah, Sophia, Isaac, Rebecca, Mark, Chloe, Cuthbert, Alexandra, Theodore, Isaac, Silouan and James.

OrthoChristian previously reported on two mass Baptisms at the same church in 2025.
