California authorities seized a teenage girl from her Ukrainian Orthodox Christian mother and are moving to put her up for adoption after her parents refused to consent to allow her to mutilate herself for a gender transition.

Alexandra Lyashchenko, an Orthodox Christian and legal Ukrainian immigrant, lost custody of her then-15-year-old daughter in 2024 after rejecting her daughter’s sudden desire to transition, reports LifeSiteNews.

Lyashchenko told journalists that California is “deciding that my daughter is going to be adopted out.” The family has relocated to Florida, where Lyashchenko says they are hiding because California also wants custody of her younger son.

The state has legally separated the girl from her parents, according to Lyashchenko. She also stated that she believes her daughter was sexually assaulted in the foster system, noting that the girl was housed with boys due to her stated “gender identity.”

Lyashchenko has accused Dr. Michelle Sager, the director of psychiatry at Children’s Legacy Center in Redding, California, of indoctrinating her daughter. She also believes her daughter’s school secretly indoctrinated her as well.

The girl had asked for consent to undergo testosterone treatment, which her parents refused. Lyashchenko said authorities “called us culturally unfit for raising our daughter in present-day America, meaning we refuse to mutilate and sterilize her.”

The family has spent nearly $500,000 in legal fees and was forced to leave their home.

“I want to see them in jail,” Lyashchenko said about the officials involved in separating her from her daughter. “I want to testify and I would bring my daughter to testify and say what they’ve done to her.”

And her message to her daughter is simple: “Please come back, but without them. We love you. We miss you. I don’t sleep. We no longer know what food and life and good sleep taste like. I want you to come back. I’m waiting for you, please.”
