Luzon, Philippines, June 3, 2026
A community on island of Luzon in the Philippines has petitioned for reception into the Russian Orthodox Church.
On May 28, Hieromonk Kornily (Molev), secretary of the Diocese of the Philippines and Vietnam, and Hieromonk John (Gondayao) of the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God Church in Manila visited the community in Camarines del Norte Province, the diocese reports.
Frs. Kornily and John met with the local community to discuss steps for its catechism and further development.
In October, OrthoChristian reported on the Baptism of 33 people in the village of Lavige on Luzon Island. According to the diocesan map, there are currently 37 Russian Orthodox parishes in the Philippines.
