St. Vladimir’s Online School of Theology is hosting a four-week course on the Book of Psalms, inviting participants into what the school calls a fresh encounter with one of Scripture’s most beloved treasures.
The course is taught by Dr. Michael Legaspi, Associate Professor of Old Testament at St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.
The course, Exploring the Book of Psalms, is an exploration of how the Psalms were shaped by tradition and received by the Church, becoming a book of prayer, a treasury of wisdom, and a guide to the life of Christ, the seminary writes.
According to the course description, students will learn how the Psalms developed over centuries, examine King David’s connection to the Psalter, develop tools for close reading of individual Psalms, and explore how the Psalms animate Orthodox worship from the Hours to Vespers and Matins.
Live sessions will be held via Zoom on Tuesdays from 8:00 to 8:45 p.m. ET, running from July 7 through July 28. The access period for course materials extends from June 30 through August 30, 2026.
Participants will receive four live discussion sessions of approximately 45 minutes each, four pre-recorded lectures, four accompanying slide presentations, and optional reading materials.
