His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkasy, one of the many persecuted hierarchs of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was released from the hospital on Wednesday after more than two weeks.

“Metropolitan Theodosy has been discharged from the hospital! We thank everyone for their prayers,” the Cherkasy Pilgrim Telegram channel reported.

The much-suffering Met. Theodosy was urgently hospitalized on June 22 on an urgent referral from cardiologists.

Met. Theodosy has spent years under house arrest on fabricated charges, and his diocese has become a prime target for violent church seizures.

The health of many Ukrainian Orthodox Church hierarchs has suffered greatly under the pressure of state persecution, including Met. Theodosy, who suffered a heart attack in July 2024.

Moreover, there has been more than one attempt on his life. During the violent seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy in October 2024, His Eminence was struck violently on the head with a wooden stick, though his episcopal klobuk softened the blow.

His Eminence then spent the entire month of December in the hospital after he was poisoned.

According to an evaluation performed during this most recent stay in the hospital, Met. Theodosy is suffering from injuries to his cervical spine and head, sustained when he was struck during the cathedral seizure. He also suffers from stage III chronic arterial hypertension, which specialists say has significantly worsened his overall condition.
