His Eminence Metropolitan Vissarion of Ovruch and Korosten, a persecuted hierarch of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has undergone major surgery and is now appealing for help to cover the cost of his recovery.

In mid-May, doctors at the Shalimov Institute in Kiev performed a nine-hour operation to remove a tumor from the hierarch. It was the seventh surgery he has endured, reports the Telegram channel First Cossack.

OrthoChristian previously reported on Met. Vissarion’s heart surgery in July 2025.

Those close to the Metropolitan report that the operation was successful, but that he now faces a lengthy and expensive recovery process requiring regular medication.

The surgery has depleted nearly all of the Metropolitan’s financial resources. A single bottle of the prescribed medication Aminosteril costs 5,500 hryvnias ($125) while a one-day supply of Olimel costs 7,400 hryvnias ($165).

An account at Privatbank has been opened to help the long-suffering Met. Vissarion. Donations can be sent, including from abroad, to the following account: 5168 7521 5121 8826.

More than 1,000 euros ($1,140) were collected in the first three days after First Cossacks’ initial post about His Eminence.
