A parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Ontario held its first-ever nighttime Liturgy for the feast of the Royal Martyrs this year.
The Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in Jackson’s Point held the service on the night of July 16–17, led by parish rector Archpriest Maxim Abroskin, the parish told the journal Foma.
After the Liturgy, Fr. Maxim and parishioners walked in a cross procession to a chapel built for the 100th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Royal Martyrs in 2018.

A moleben to the holy Royal Martyrs was served in the chapel, after which Fr. Maxim delivered a sermon.
Earlier, on July 12, the parish had held the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the holy Royal Family. It was visited by a special guest, researcher and writer Paul Gilbert, author of journals and books about the Tsar-Martyr Nicholas II, who gave a lecture titled “Myths and Lies About the Royal Family.”

In Ekaterinburg, Russia, where the Royal Family was martyred, 44,000 people joined in a nighttime Liturgy and procession from the Church on the Blood, built on the site of the house where they were martyred, to the Monastery of the Royal Passion-Bearers at Ganina Yama, built on the site where their bodies were discarded.
