The new high school building of the Serbian Orthodox St. Sava College in Varroville, Australia, was consecrated this week.
His Eminence Metropolitan Siluan of Australia and New Zealand visited the school in Varroville on Tuesday, July 21, the first teaching day of the third term, and celebrated the rite of consecration for the College’s new high school building, the diocese reports.
During the consecration service, all the children responded together to the litany petitions, and Met. Siluan wished the school continued progress in the spirit of Orthodoxy and the tradition of St. Sava.
Through the sprinkling of holy water, prayers were offered for the blessed use of the College’s newly built specialized science laboratories.
Following the consecration and the return to classes, the Metropolitan first spoke with seventh-grade students, then visited the St. Sava Church on the school grounds, where major work is underway to complete the building.
Further details were discussed regarding the upcoming visit of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, expected in October 2026, at which time the great consecration of the church will also take place.
