An Orthodox family is seeking financial assistance after a fire destroyed their home on May 4, leaving the family, including three children, without a place to live.
Alex and Melissa Newman and their children, James, Michael and Nina, escaped the blaze safely along with their two dogs. The fire reportedly began in the garage and spread rapidly through the residence due to strong winds and dry weather conditions at the time. The home, where the family had lived for nearly seven years, was rendered uninhabitable, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists.
A fundraising campaign has been established to help the family cover expenses related to their temporary rental housing, the replacement of furniture and household items, and costs associated with repairing or rebuilding their home. Organizers note that dozens of household items were destroyed or damaged in the fire.
Commonwealth Orthodox Crowdfunding verified by the need with Fr. Constantine Newman of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Concord, Hew Hampshire.
As of this writing, $4,527 of the $20,000 goal has been raised.
Organizers are asking the public to consider donating to support the Newman family as they work to rebuild their home and replace lost belongings.
