The crosses were returned to the domes of the Holy Virgin Cathedral “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco on September 4, after a month-long restoration process.
The restoration work had begun when the crosses were removed on July 24, reports the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
The work on the crosses is part of a larger project to beautify and preserve the cathedral in preparation for its centennial celebration next year.
The cathedral has an online fundraiser to help offset the cost of restoring the crosses.
“Together, let us unite in faith and action to ensure that the Holy Virgin Cathedral of San Francisco remains a beacon of light, love, and divine grace in our ever-changing world,” the campaign reads.
