The 30th anniversary of the repose of Hieromonk Seraphim Rose. Photo report

On September 2, 2012, the St. Herman of Alaska Monastery in Platina, California hosted a celebration of the thirty year anniversary of the repose of Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose). Father Seraphim is known throughout the Orthodox world for his writings. Those attending the Divine Liturgy and the festive meal afterwards included Americans who knew Father Seraphim personally.

Also present were Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Outside of Russia, Bishop Daniel of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, and, of course, Bishop Maxim of Western American, of the Serbian Orthodox Church—the monastery’s ruling bishop.

Over two hundred pilgrims came from all over the country to honor the memory of Hieromonk Seraphim. The weather was soft and warm—a perfect early autumn day in the Shasta-Trinity foothills of Northern California.

Thank you for sharing these photos! I have a correction - Bishop MAXIM was not present. In the photo is Bishop DANIEL of Dragovitsa (Serbian Church).

I wish I could have been there for this. Fr. Seraphim Rose was my godfather (Marina Logunov) and he was also my sons godfather as well ( Fr. Alexander Logunov), Priest of the Reigning Mother of God Russian Orthodox Church of Charlotte NC. Our photo of our baptism is on page 286 of Fr. Seraphim Rose His Life and Works. I want to thank you for your article and pictures. I will tell you he is the one that taught me my Orthodoxy. We were baptized in the Russian Cathedral in San Francisco on Geary Blvd., Oct. 08, 1966.
Again I want to Thank you for article and pictures.
