S. Lavrov: Russia’s Christian duty to help Ukraine

Head of the Russian Federation's Ministry for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov considers the decision of Russia to help the Ukraine a Christian action, reports Interfax-Religion.

"There is also the eternal Christian truth: you must help your neighbor, and when you do it, you will be given your due. The Ukraine is our closest neighbor, the Ukrainian people are our brothers, and we sincerely wish to promote stability in this country," said S. Lavrov on Thursday at the press conference in Warsaw, speaking on the agreements, achieved lately by the both states.

On Tuesday a meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission under the chairmanship of the Russian and Ukrainian presidents Vladimir Putin and Viktor Yanukovich took place in Moscow. A number of agreements were achieved in the course of the meeting; specifically, on the reduction of cost of Russian gas to Ukraine to 268.50 USD for 1000 cubic meters as well as the purchase by Russia of the Ukrainian Eurobonds for 15 billion dollars.
