Blagoveshchensk, June 12, 2014
According to a eyewitness testimony, a circular rosy halo around the sun appeared on Holy Trinity Day (Pentecost) during the reading of the kneeling prayers at the cathedral, reports BLAGINFORM.
A solemn Divine Liturgy and a Vespers with kneeling at the principal church of the Amur Diocese on Pentecost were headed by Bishop Lucian with the cathedral clergy concelebrating.
At the service Bishop Lucian of Blagoveshchensk ordained Deacon Eugene Polyakov (b. 1978) a priest.
A halo around the sun is a fairly common phenomenon. It is typically caused when there are very high, very thin clouds. These clouds, being so high in the sky, are made from ice crystals. The properties of the ice crystals reflect and refract light in such a way as to cause a ring around the sun.
