Georgian Patriarch successfully operated on in Germany

Tbilisi, July 27, 2015

Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia, who is currently undergoing another course of medical treatment in Germany, has been operated on, his press office said.

"The coronography (an X-ray examination technique that is the most precise and credible way of diagnosing ischemic heart disease) revealed that an additional invasive medical procedure was required for the cardiovascular system. The procedure was conducted successfully," the statement reads.

The leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church travelled to Germany on July 14.

Ilia II is expected to return to Georgia on July 30.
