The Moscow nanny suspected of beheading a child in her care says ‘Allah ordered her to commit the crime.' Uzbekistan native Gyulchekhra Bobokulova made that admission as she appeared in court. She went on to call herself ‘Allah's messenger'.
Meanwhile, flowers continue to be laid outside the Moscow metro station where Bobokulova brandished the severed head of an infant on Monday. The 38-year-old is in police custody on suspicion of murdering the four-year-old child.
Muscovites say they are shaken by the brutal killing.
Galina, Moscow resident and eyewitness to arrest: "She was wearing all black, well she was not a Russian lady. It is hard to say, maybe she had something wrong in her head. I do not even know why it all happened like that. I think it is some kind of savagery. This is savagery, you understand? I do not know, it is just a nightmare. I could not sleep, because I saw it all, blood dripping and this nightmare."
Moscow investigators say Bobokulova is undergoing psychiatric tests. According to Russian media she had been registered at a psychiatric clinic in her homeland.
A woman who says she is a neighbor of the victim's family believes it's the unpredictable nature of the attack which is most unsettling.
Svetlana Monina, local neighbour of child's family: "The most horrifying thing is that it can happen to anyone, in any family, to our children. This is simply terrifying. What can one do in this situation? I do not know."
The murder is prompting rights activists to warn of a possible backlash against migrant workers from Central Asia. They have in the past been targeted by far-right groups.
These attacks are absolutely not "unpredictable in nature," on the contrary, they are very predictable. The perpetraitors are zealously religious muslims, usually from traditional Muslim-majority nations, and occasionally zealously religious Muslim converts.
Why? Because Muslims are instructed throughout their religious texts and instructions to "strike the necks of the unbelievers" and instill "terror in their hearts."
The texts prove it, history proves it, videos of their religious leaders in modern times prove it, accounts of the persecuted prove it, they tell us what they intend to do and then they do it.
It is not complex, it is simple. It is not pleasant to accept, but we must accept the truth and change our policies or we will continue to see more massacres.
