Three ancient icons and an altar cross were stolen from the Ukrainian Church of the Holy Trinity in the village of Ukrainka in the Rivne Province several days ago.

Traces of the theft were noticed by women who arrived to clean the church on Friday, November 2, the Rivne Diocese reports.

According to the rector Archpriest Anatoly Sopiga, the criminals entered the church through the side doors. It is unknown when the crime was committed. Local police were called to the church and an investigation is underway.

The churches and clergy of the Rivne Diocese of the canonical Ukrainian Church have been under attack for years by schismatic nationalists (see also here and here), sometimes being forced to celebrate open air services.
