St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church to Hold Fundraiser for Restoration of Damaged Church

West Babylon, August 16, 2015

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in West Babylon, Long Island, NY is hosting a festive fundraiser for the repair of their parish which suffered millions of dollars’ worth of fire damage last month, reports Digital Journal.

The church was severely damaged in the July 21 blaze, including many newly-painted icons. Father Demetrios Kazakis wrote concerning the fire on the parish’s Facebook page, “Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.”

Pop’s Seafood Shack and Grill in Island Park, NY is hosting the September 13 fundraiser which promises to be a fun-filled family day with plenty of food, drinks, music, and raffles. A Go Fund Me campaign has also been established to help restore the parish to its former glory.

More information can be found at the St. Nicholas website.
