His Eminence, Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral, a leading hierarch of the Serbian Church, heavily criticized the Serbian president’s controversial comments regarding Kosovo recently.

“Kosovo is not simply a place of cemeteries and graves, there is also God’s people and sanctuaries,” His Eminence noted in response to the Serbian President Alexander Vučić speaking of a need for a “compromise” on Kosovo, as if it is just a piece of land to the Serbian people, or an issue to be traded on at the negotiating table.

Many believed the Serbian President implied that Serbia should recognize Kosovo, which according to international law belongs to Serbia as it did from ancient times, prior to NATO invading and bombing Yugoslavia, and then supporting an Albanian regime in Kosovo.

To understand why compromise on this issue would be unreasonable to a Church leaders such as Met. Amfilohije, it is important to understand the history of Kosovo.

Kosovo is the literal heart of the Serbian nation, and the center of almost all their most sacred holy sites. It was a land that in recent memory was a happy part of the Serbian motherland, as it was for centuries. This land was then forcibly taken from Serbia by Muslims who persecute the Serbian Church with the support of NATO.

Recognizing Kosovo would essentially be understood, in the eyes of Serbian Christians, as throwing out the legal owner of a home while registering a bandit as its owner. Muslims in Kosovo constantly attempt to destroy Serbian Christian history.

His Eminence emphasized that anyone who denies history should be ashamed, reports Romfea.

“Anyone who denies the essence, the memories, and the holy sanctuaries [of a nation] should be ashamed… Kosovo is embedded in the history and the national essence of the Serbian people,” he said.

Previously, an article was published on OrthoChristian about how a U.S./NATO General views the Serbian Orthodox Church as an obstacle for American power in the Balkans, particularly with reference to the unwillingness to surrender their spiritual heartland Kosovo, in which Serbian Christians are to this day constantly persecuted by the Albanian Moslems supported by NATO.
