Ion Neculce, Romania, October 11, 2019
The 10-children Ciobanu family will soon have a new place to live, thanks to the generosity of one Romanian monastery.
Work on their new home in the village of Ion Neculce began at the end of May and is rapidly nearing completion. The building is covered with a roof and the windows were recently installed. The house is near the village church, reports Doxologia.
The initiative belongs to Hadâmbu Monastery in Schitu Hadâmbului, Iaşi County in northeastern Romania.
“Next is the interior finishes, the installation of the wooden flooring, the purchase of furniture, and other amenities,” said Archimandrite Nicodim Gheorghiţă, the abbot of Hadâmbu, who recently gave all the children a new pair of shoes.
“We want that by the beginning of winter, the children will have a new home in which to enjoy favorable conditions. I chose this family both for the high number of children and for the fact that they are studying very well at school,” Fr. Nicodim said.
Funds for the project came from donations by pilgrims and the faithful who live near the monastery.
Those who wish to donate towards the work left to be done can send money to the account RO75 RZBR 0000 0600 0027 9276 opened at Raiffeisen Bank on behalf of Hadâmbu Monastery.
In 2017, Fr. Petru Gavriloaia built and donated a new home to a family with nine children in Timișești, Neamț County. Last year, faithful from the northwestern Romanian villages of Paleu and Oşorhei took up a collection over the course of the previous year to buy a home for a family with 9 children from the nearby village of Parhida.

The monastery was left in ruins for many years but was reopened in 1990. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Monuments.
