Work begins on bust of Patriarch Alexei II to be erected in Estonian town of Jõhvi

Photo: Facebook Photo: Facebook The Church of the Theophany in the northeastern Estonian town of Jõhvi joyfully announced on Monday that work has begun on a bust of His Holiness Patriarch Alexei II of Moscow and All Russia that will be erected on the territory of the church this year.

“Dear friends! We are pleased to announce that work has begun on creating a bust of Patriarch Alexei II of Moscow and All Russia, which will be installed on the territory of our church,” reads the church’s Facebook message.

Pat. Alexei, who headed the Russian Church from 1990 to 2008, hailed from Estonia and served as a priest in the Church of the Theophany from 1950 to 1957.

Photo: Facebook Photo: Facebook It is also noted that the monument is being made by Ukrainian sculptor Eldaniz Gurbanov.

According to rus.delfi.ee, the estimated cost of the monument is $55,450 (50,000 euros).

A bust of Pat. Alexei was earlier erected in the capital city of Tallinn in 2012.
