His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia issued an order yesterday easing the financial burden on all dioceses and parishes of the Russian Church on the territory of Russia during this time of pandemic, reports the official site of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The order comes against the background of the people’s restricted access to churches and monasteries due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to less donations to churches and monasteries.

In this regard, Pat. Kirill has blessed for diocesan and parish dues to the Patriarchate for 2020 to be reduced by 25% compared to 2019 (corresponding to three months of dues).

Diocesan bishops are to send a report to the Patriarch describing the situation in their dioceses, including information about the percentage decrease in income compared to last year and a report on the reduction of parish dues for the diocesan budget.

The deadline for paying 2020 dues has also been extended to May 10, 2021.
