Since August 3, a video has been circulating of Moslem men, some dressed in Afghan garb, rasing the flag of the Taliban in the Great Church of Constantinople, as the Union of Orthodox Journalists report.
This comes after Turkey converted Hagia Sophia back into a mosque receiving international condemnation, but praise from radical Moslem groups. One independent researcher and anti-terrorism expert says that this will only encourage other extremists to do likewise, including possibly ISIS supporters.

The conversion of Hagia Sophia was a motivational message of #MuslimBrotherhood to the world’s Islamist #extremists and #terrorists.
Soon, pro #ISIS activists will raise their flag too. #CHIIS pic.twitter.com/B6ArvLmSfe
In the video, the men were shouting “Allahu Akbar”, and raising their right finger in a similar gesture to that performed by ISIS supporters.
The video was shared on Twitter by Noor Dahri, an independent researcher in counter-terrorism and violent extremism, who is based in London.
Dahri wrote in his post that: “The flag of the Afghan Taliban was raised in Hagia Sophia in Turkey by pro-Taliban activists. The conversion of Hagia Sophia was an encouraging message of the Muslim Brotherhood and to the world’s Islamist extremists and terrorists. Soon, pro-ISIS activists will raise their flag too.”
Needless to say, the entire Christian world has been increasingly disturbed by the rise of Islamism in Erdogan’s Turkish regime; reports that icons remained covered even between Moslem “services”, and this extremist provocation, and the atmosphere that tolerates it only increases tensions.
