An interesting phenomenon has been occurring for several months now in one cell on Holy Mount Athos.

According to a report from Romfea, an icon of Christ the Great High Priest on the Royal Doors of the church in the Cell of the Holy Trinity in the Provata area of Mt. Athos has been moving on its own since Thursday in Lazarus week, just before Holy Week and Pascha.

The Royal Door on which the icon hangs initially moved on its own for three days, from November 20 to 23, but the icon has been moving continually since April.

According to the elder of the cell, Hieromonk George, this miracle has been verified by both the spiritual and administrative authorities on Mt. Athos, including Abbot Prodromos and Elder Paul of the Great Lavra, fathers from numerous cells and hermitages on the Holy Mountain, and the Commander and Deputy Commander of the Karyes Police Department. The icon has also been seen by a number of pilgrims.

Sometimes the icon moves more quickly, sometimes more slowly, but its movement is not attributed to any natural causes or human intervention. People have stopped the icon from moving, but it begins again on its own.

The report also states that candles were placed before the Royal Doors to examine any air flow that could be moving the icon, but the flame did not move at all, while the icon continued to move.

With the blessing of Elder George, the icon was filmed, showing its movement:

Could this movement be a portent of things to come, namely the Iveron Icon of the Theotokos predicted to leave the mountain? I've made videos about this on You Tube under 'marykfilms.'
