On September 8, 2020, Moscow’s Sretensky Monastery solemnly celebrated its patronal feast—the day of the Meeting of the Vladimir icon of the Mother of God. On this day, Archbishop Theognost of Kashira celebrated the early Divine Liturgy in the ancient Church of the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon. The late Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Resurrection and the New Martyrs of the Russian Church was celebrated by the abbot of the monastery, Hieromonk John (Ludischev), assisted by the brethren, ordained graduates of the Sretensky Theological Seminary, and the capital’s clergy. This is the first time Fr. John has celebrated the monastery’s patronal feast in his official capacity as abbot.
