Photo: mitropolija.com On Wednesday, October 21, Hieromonk Prohor (Josifov) of the Serbian Orthodox Church’s Cetinje Monastery in Montenegro reposed in the Lord in the General Hospital in the city of Bar.
Fr. Prohor was born on the feast of Pentecost in 1977 in Kočani in Macedonia, and graduated from the seminary and theological school in Skopje. He was married and had two children, and later became a monk at Cetinje on October 29, 2010. He was ordained as a hieromonk in 2014.
He reposed at the age of 43 after a short but severe illness brought on by the coronavirus, reports the Metropolis of Montenegro.
The administrative center of the Metropolis of Montenegro is located next to Cetinje Monastery, where His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije is the abbot. His Grace Bishop Metodije of Diokleia serves as Deputy Abbot, while Fr. Prohor practically ran the day-to-day affairs of the monastery and took care of the monastery estates.
His funeral Liturgy and funeral were served on Thursday in the monastery’s Church of the Entrance of the Mother of God Into the Temple. He was then buried at Dobrska Ćelija Monastery, a metochion of Cetinje Monastery, in the presence of the monastery brotherhood and the parish priests of Cetinje.
