According to the year-end assessment of its Holy Synod, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church gave $88,745 (2.5 million hryvnia), 445 tons of food, and 68 tons of items to medical institutions and those in need over the past year.

The funds and goods were distributed by the Social and Humanitarian Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in coordination with the dioceses of the UOC, reports the Information-Education Department of the UOC.

It is noted that the quarantine restrictions significantly affected but did not impede the Church’s humanitarian work. In particular, besides medical institutions, assistance was provided to doctors, large families, low-income families, and the elderly.

Additionally, $71,000 (2 million hryvnia) were raised by the UOC in 3 months for the fraternal Church of Antioch, whose believers and churches suffered in the massive explosion in Beirut in early August.

The funds were delivered by His Eminence Metropolitan Barsanuphius of Vinnitsa during a meeting with His Eminence Metropolitan Elijah of Beirut.
