Three Serbian bishops hospitalized as hierarchs meet to elect new Patriarch

Three hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church have been hospitalized recently. Meanwhile, the rest of the bishops are meeting today to elect a successor to His Holiness Patriarch Irinej who reposed in November.

His Grace Bishop Lavrentije of Šabac was hospitalized in Belgrade yesterday, reports the site of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the renowned theologian Metropolitan Atanasije (Jevtić), formerly of Herzegovina, was also hospitalized yesterday morning in Trebinje in Bosnia and Herzegovina, showing significant signs of fatigue, reports the Orthodoxia News Agency.

OrthoChristian was also informed by a source in the Serbian Church that His Grace Bishop Maxim of Western America is also in the hospital with a serious coronavirus infection and that Bp. Atanasije is also suffering from the coronavirus.
