A number of monastic tonsures have taken place in monasteries throughout the Ukrainian Orthodox Church since the beginning of Lent.

And on Tuesday night, the Andrusiev-Annunciation Monastery in the Rivne Diocese celebrated its first monastic tonsures since its founding 5 years ago. During the All-Night Vigil for the monastery’s patronal feast, Archimandrite Mikhail (Zuschenko) of the St. Barbara Skete tonsured three new nuns, reports the Rivne Diocese.

After the service, Fr. Mikhail congratulated Abbess Paula with the addition to the monastery sisterhood and all the faithful with the feast of the Annunciation.

The Annunciation Monastery was one of three founded in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2016. In August 2019, the foundation stone for a new church at the monastery was laid, and Mother Paula was officially installed as the abbess. On August 31 last year, the monastery festively celebrated its 5th anniversary.

A video in honor of the 5th anniversary was published on the YouTube channel of His Eminence Metroplitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church:
