OCA Monastery offering free children’s books for Palm Sunday and Pascha

Holy Assumption Monastery (Orthodox Church in America) in Calistoga, California, is offering free downloads of children’s books on Palm Sunday and Pascha.

Each book is authored by Mother Melania, the abbess of the monastery, and also has a set of accompanying worksheets.

The Three-Day Pascha, a series of books on the Cross, the Tomb, and the Resurrection, is available for download in a variety of formats through May 15. The accompanying worksheets, including crossword puzzles, word searches, vocab sheets, and much more, can also be downloaded here.

Also available through May 15 is Pascha at the Duck Pond, with its accompanying worksheets.

Mother Melania’s The Entry of Our Lord into Jerusalem and its accompanying worksheets are still available through May 3.

A priest in the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America with a bilingual family noticed that there were many good Orthodox books for children that were only available in other languages. After years of wishing he could lend the books out to parishioners and their families, he got in touch with the original publishers and has begun to translate and publish the books to make them available to English-speaking Orthodox families.
